| Knit Wits Group:
Meet every other Thursday evening at 7:00 PM in the Parish House.
As part of the ELCA, this ministry began in June
2005. Ladies come together to knit and crochet items for outreach
projects, to teach the skill to beginners, and to have lots of
fellowship and laughter. In 2008, the group made and delivered:
- 10 Prayer Shawls and Lap Robes. Seven were
given to Quickel's members. While the shawls were being made,
prayers were offered. This is continuing project.
- 9 Helmet Liners for the military in Iraq.
- 20 Baby Blankets, 1 Layette set, and afghan
and pillow set, and several miscellaneous items for ACCESS-York.
- 79 scarves, 39 winter hats, and 54 pairs of
gloves for the homeless and needy serviced by York Helping Hands.
- A variety of items were made and sold at
GAG's Spring Fling, the Lutheran Home Founder's Day, and the
Christmas Bazaar, including dolls, Barbie clothing, hot pads, hair
scrunches, scrubbers, handbags and scarves.

Blanket Workshops: preparation of quilts and
blankets to be distributed through Lutheran World Relief every November.
Blanket Sunday was held on October 3rd. 20 quilts were displayed
along with crocheted baby blankets, an afghan, and scarves and hats. The
quilts will be sent to Lutheran World Relief along with 40 health kits.
Ten baby blankets and the afghan will go to Access-York. Quickel's
members have generous hearts. Through these items, may God's love and
compassion be made known to the people who receive them.

Health Ministry
Focus: Suffering and Caring:
This month, our
health ministry has focused on the experience of suffering and what
we can do for people who are suffering. May the revelation of
Jesus’ suffering evermore challenge us to do healing ministry in our
hurting world. ~taken from Seasons for Wholeness by Ruth
